Christopher and Kristine purchased the 56 acre Alexander Valley vineyard in 1994 and began a complete renovation of the vineyard in 1995, including re-planting of the vines. They engaged Phil Freese, a highly- regarded winery consultant and enologist who is internationally acclaimed. Phil was instrumental in soil testing and in the very important selection of varietals.
After developing the original property, the Williams acquired another 600 acres in the Yorkville Highlands appellation in 1998.
Today, both vineyards are managed by Wattle Creek winemaker Matt Michael and Marcelino Santamaria, our Vineyard Manager. From planting to pruning, water management and harvesting, the Wattle Creek team oversees it all. As Chris says, "we control everything from dirt to bottle", which ensures wine quality and consistency year in and year out.
